Here, you can reserve a field or facility, purchase beach stickers, reserve hunting locations, sign up for our classes and events, and ask our staff anything you like regarding Riverhead's Parks and Recreation offerings. Facility Rentals
Community Centers and Community Center Rental
We have spaces at our various community centers available for parties, meetings, general use, and more. You can apply to use one of our community center rooms by filling out our online form here or by calling Doris Strange at (631)727-3200 ext. 205 Weekday Events Meetings (M-F, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm)

Single Use meetings, $20 an hour with a 2-hour minimum.
Re-occurring weekday meetings are charged a $75.00 surcharge paid every six months.
Weekend Events/Parties

Weekend Events or Parties, $70.00 per hour with a 4-hour minimum. *
Non-Resident usage, $100.00 an hour with a 4-hour minimum. *
All rentals and reservations require a $100.00 security deposit. The security deposit may be returned provided that guidelines are followed and there is no damage to the facility.
Tournament Field Rentals
Tournaments Rental Fee: $250.00 per day/ field or rink *Lights Fee: $30.00 per hour/ field or rink
All rentals require a $25.00 application fee
A non-refundable $200.00 deposit is required to secure your reservation. Patrons re-booking dates from the previous year may do so with a non-refundable $200.00 deposit, any dates outside of their re-booked dates will require full payment upon reservation.
All tournaments must be booked two weeks in advance.
Full payment for all other tournaments is due three days before the scheduled event date.
Full credit or refund if the event is canceled by The Town of Riverhead due to inclement weather or other unforeseeable reason.
* Lights are required for rentals that continue or begin after sunset and are available until 10:00pm. Tournaments that continue past 10:00pm will be charged at a rate of $50.00 per hour / per field for lights. Hourly Field Rentals

All rentals require a $25.00 application fee
All fees are due three days before the first scheduled date on the facility rental contract. If payment is not submitted on time the field/rink will be released.
Fees may be credited to the account if canceled 24 hours before the scheduled event date or due to inclement weather.
Beach stickers are available for purchase at either of our office locations or beach attendant booths during summer hours. You can also purchase beach stickers by clickinghere.
Please have your driver's license, vehicle registration, and proof of residency with you and available at the time of purchase.
A beach sticker are required at Corwell Ave WFA, Edwards Ave WFA, Hulse Landing WFA, Iron Pier Beach, Iron Pier Boat Launch, Meeting House Creek WFA, Miamogue WFA, Reeves Beach, Roanoke Ave WFA, South Jamesport Beach, South Jamesport Boat Launch, Wading River Beach, Wading River Boat Launch, Washington Ave WFA.
Current Fire Department, AMB, and EMP as well as Military Veterans are entitled to one free beach sticker with proper identification.
Beach stickers are valid per calendar year. Unless otherwise noted on the Beach Sticker Information page (January 1st to December 31st)
Beach parking is enforced year-round by our Riverhead Town Police Department. However, beach attendants and lifeguards are available only seasonally.
East Creek Docking Facility
East Creek Docking Facility is located at 1207 Peconic Bay Boulevard Riverhead, N.Y. 11901
Our waiting list is full and has a five to eight-year wait presently. If you wish to discuss your options, you may call Doris Strange at (631) 727-3200 ext. 205 or fill out our waitlist application here.
Costs associated with renting a slip at this facility include a fee of $85 per foot according to the vessel's NYS Registration, a $200 processing fee, and a fee of $375 per electricity line.
Vessels can be docked from April through November, weather permitting.

Boat Ramps & Launches
The Town of Riverhead hosts several boat launches and ramps throughout the township. We request that anyone using these ramps help to keep the area around them clean and if they notice anything worth reporting contact our offices by calling (631)727-3200 x737.
Boat Launches are available for use year-round.
To park your trailer and towing vehicle at one of Riverhead's boat launch locations you must have either a Silver or Platinum level town beach sticker.
Boat Launches are available at the following locations, Wading River Boat Ramp, Wading River Beach, Iron Pier Beach, East Creek Marina at South Jamesport Beach.
Smaller canoe/kayak launches are available at the following locations, Weeping Willow Park, Corwell Ave. WFA, and Miamogue Park.
Riverhead Town hosts a number of Town Beaches and waterfront associations. We ask that visitors be respectful of fellow community members, neighbors who may live in proximity to the beach being visited, and local flora and fauna occupying the area. If anything needs attention at a particular beach, please call (631)727-3200 x 700.

Beach attendants and Lifeguards are on-site for our major beaches from 11:00am - 6:00pm. They're staffed weekends only from Memorial Day until June 30th and seven days a week from July 1st through Labor Day weekend.
Each of our locations has signs designating what is or is not allowed at that facility. Those who partake in enjoying these shared spaces are expected to follow the rules of these signs and/or the requests of the staff on duty that day. Parking is enforced year-round by Riverhead Town Police Department regardless of attendant/lifeguard hours.
4x4 Regulations
Residents with 4x4 Permits may drive on the beach during the following hours; September 16th, 2024 - May 20th, 2025, 24-hours. Beginning May 6th, 2024 - September 15th, 2024 4x4 hours are 6:00pm-9:00am
Beaches with 4x4 access include Wading River Beach, Hulse Landing WFA, Edwards Ave WFA, Revees' Beach, and Roanoke Ave WFA.
4x4 permit holders are reminded to be aware of any pedestrian or wildlife activity while driving on the beach.
We ask 4x4 permit holders and any beach users to abide by the "leave no trace" principle to help keep Riverheads' beaches and waters' clean for everyone to enjoy.
Regardless of beach attendant and lifeguard hours parking and 4x4 access are enforced by the Riverhead Police Department.
Night Fishing Reguations
A night fishing permit is required for anyone wishing to park and fish at a Town of Riverhead facility between 10:00pm and sunrise.
Night fishing permits are on sale to Riverhead residents only and can be purchased at either the Parks or Recreation office locations.
A DEC saltwater fishing license is required to purchase a night fishing permit.

Camps
Registration
Guardians can register their children for camp in person at our Recreation office located at 4 West Second St. Riverhead NY 11901. If you would like to join the mailing list for the latest camp updates, please do so by contacting our camps coordinator here.
Registration is taken on a rolling basis until camp is full. After that campers are placed on a waitlist.
Returning campers and Riverhead residents receive priority registration. Any campers on the waitlist are contacted in the order in which they were received.
Campers must have completed kindergarten to be eligible for registration and participation.
There are no discounts however we do offer a Tuition Assistance Program. Guardians can fill out that form prior to registration here.

Locations & Session Dates
Our main camp location is located at the George Young Community Center in Jamesport NY and we are running an additional camp at the Aquebogue Elementary School on 2024.
Session dates for summer 2024 are July 1st - Aug. 23rd for GYCC, and Aquebogue July 8th - Aug. 16th.
Daily Information for Campers
Requirements
Food and drinks are not provided. Parents must pack snacks and lunches for their campers that are free from tree nuts and peanuts. Counselors will do a lunch back check to assure all lunch bags are tree-nut/peanut-free.
Any food our counselors do distribute on special themed days will require verbal or written parent approval to be distributed to your camper.
Campers should wear closed-toe shoes each day to be able to participate in all activities.
Campers who own cellphones must leave those devices in their bags for the entirety of the day and are not permitted to use them while participating at camp.
Camps Refund Policy
Refunds can be issued for the first three weeks of camp before June 14th, and before July 1st for the last four weeks. After those dates department credits can be issued to those seeking withdrawal from camp for qualifying emergencies.

All of our programs and events can be registered for here. Pre-registration, with payment, is required for all programs unless otherwise noted. We accept cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover. There is a $25 fee for all returned checks. All checks are payable to "Riverhead Recreation Department" or "Town of Riverhead".
Please be advised that if you wish to use a credit card you will be charged a 3.5% service fee.
We ask that if you have difficulty logging in please DO NOT make a new account. You can call either office (631)727-3200 ext. 205 for assistance with your online account. We can help with passwords, family members, address changes, and more.
If you would prefer to register in person you can visit either of our offices at their designated hours of operation, listed above under "General Information".
Proof of residency is required for all purchases to ensure proper billing. Valid proof of residency documentation includes a current Tax bill, Utility bill, Annual Lease Agreement, Drivers License. Documents with Post Office (PO) Box addresses are not valid forms of proof. Family accounts must be updated once every year.

Participation Information
General information for participating in Town of Riverhead Recreation Department's events and classes.
Minimum class requirements must be reached in order for programs to run. Programs are subject to cancellation based on the availability of instructors, facilities or equipment, weather, or emergency situations.
Parental permission is required for participants under 18 years of age.
All participants do so at their own risk. Individuals are responsible to check all class descriptions to be sure their (or their child's) physical condition and skill dictate that they can safely participate.
Riverhead Recreation periodically photographs or records various programs and events. These are used for publication in marketing materials, on our website, and on our various social media pages. We may also stream videos on our website. Unless the participant/guardian informs us of their desire not to be photographed, the Recreation Department will use photos and videos for promotional purposes.

Bus Trips
We offer a wide array of bus trips for Riverhead residents and non-residents alike. They range from sporting events to Broadway shows, to seasonal excursions, to adult field trips. More information about Bus Trips can be found on our seasonal programs page here.
The majority of our bus trips depart from the main parking lot of Stotzky Park unless otherwise noted on your receipt.
Please arrive 15 minutes early for all departure times as a courtesy to fellow riders and your chaperone to ensure an on-time departure.
Please practice safety precautions when approaching and riding the bus. Some examples include do not approach the bus until it has come to a complete stop, exercising patience when boarding and disembarking the vehicle (don't push), please avoid bringing anything aboard that can be distracting to the driver or bothersome to other passengers.
We understand that there are things that are beyond our control when it comes to bus trips like unforeseen traffic or the weather. We request that during these times our bus trip participants remain as calm as possible so the driver can get you safely to your destination.
Every bus trip will have a chaperone on board to check tickets, and take headcounts amongst other things. We ask that bus trip participants respect the chaperone assigned for their particular trip and listen to their requests to help keep all participants safe and happy.
Refunds and Account Credits
Refunds are generally decided on a case-by-case basis. If you need to forgo participation in one of our general programs we can likely offer you credit towards another program in the future.
Registrants may be eligible for an account credit, provided they complete the appropriate request form found here. If a credit request is approved, it will be posted as credit to the family account. All credit requests must be submitted at least five business days before the start of the program, unless in the event of extreme circumstance. All issued credits expire after one year.
If we cancel a program, registrants may be eligible for a full refund or credit.
All bus trips are non-refundable.
Credits may only be used for payments in person or by phone.
