The Town of Riverhead has declared a state of emergency.
Among other things, this means that all town facilities are now closed to the public, and all Recreation Department programs, trips and events are canceled. We will post updates here as they become available. You can also call our hotline for updates: (631) 727-5744 ext. 30.
Beach stickers are still available for purchase through the Viply app; see link below. They will be available for pickup as soon as our offices reopen.
Thank you for your patience and understanding, and please be safe.
PARKS (updated 4/3):
We are asking all park-goers to use additional precautions to protect their health and safety and that of others around them.
Our parks are still open. While solo exercise is ok, team sports are not permitted in the parks at this time. Please maintain at least 6 feet of distance between yourself and others when outside and avoid congregating in groups.
Please refer to our Facebook page to sign up for updates.
SUMMER REC (updated 3/26):
This Saturday's new camper registration is postponed. Here is our tentative timeline:
Returning camper registration is extended through May 1. We will resume registration once the building is reopened for business.
New camper registration begins on Saturday, May 2 from 8 am-9:30 am at the Senior Center and is then open for continued registration based on spots available.
Non-resident camper registration begins on Wednesday, May 6 during business hours at the Senior Center (8 am-4 pm).
These dates are tentative; please check on Facebook and visit our website for updated information.
If you have any questions, please contact Liz at email@example.com.
WELCOME TO RIVERHEAD RECREATION!
We offer a wide array of recreational activities for the entire community. Whether it's winter or summer; whether you're feeling energetic or serene; whether you're an outdoorsy or indoorsy type; whether you're young(ish) or old(ish)--we have a program for you!
We love Riverhead and are always excited to share new experiences and environments with its residents. (Historical sidenote: did you know that Riverhead once had its own fairgrounds? Or that it hosted a 22-mile stock car derby in 1909?)
Please browse our pages for current programs and events, as well as year-round basics such as parking permits and registration account information. You can also sign up for our email newsletter, the Rec Report, by clicking here.
And don't forget to call or visit us from time to time--we love to meet new people and are happy to answer any questions you may have.
