WELCOME TO SUMMER REC 2021!
After careful consideration, we have decided to open our Summer Recreation program this year, with limited capacity and new operating procedures. Your children's safety and emotional well-being is, as always, our first priority. Although camp will look very different this year, we still intend to provide your children with a safe and happy place to grow, be active, think creatively, and make key social connections.
New Guidelines for Summer 2021
Camp will operate out of GYCC from 8:30 am to 5 pm. Our early morning program and Teen Camp will not operate this summer; however, children entering grades 7-8 in September will be allowed to attend camp.
Staggered drop-off and pickup times will be assigned upon registration; families are not permitted into the building.
Campers and staff will have their temperature taken upon arrival. Campers with a temperature of 100.4 degrees F or above will note be admitted and must follow "returning to camp" protocol, outlined in the updated parent handbook.
Campers will be provided hand sanitizer upon entering the building.
Staff to camper ratios will be decreased and groups will operate as "households". Siblings will be grouped together and age appropriate members will be added to each group to ensure everyone has interaction with their peers.
Campers and staff will follow the social distancing rules of 6 feet apart and will wear face masks when the appropriate distance cannot be followed. Staff will wear masks while in the presence of campers.
Bathroom use will be limited to one camper at a time.
There will be no field trips this summer. We are exploring different types of virtual field trips.
Campers will be provided with a box of supplies for their personal use at camp.
The Town of Riverhead reserves the right to suspend or cancel camp at any point during the summer. Canceled camp days will be refunded without penalty. Policies will be outlines in an updated parent handbook.
We ask that you introduce these new rules to your children and reinforce them throughout the summer. Please emphasize the importance of personal space and handwashing prior to the start of camp, as we will be practicing both distancing and best practices for handwashing. Knowing what to expect from camp as our start date approaches will lend to smoother transitions from home to camp in these unprecedented times.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call Liz Keller at 631-722-4444 ext. 740 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
